Navy Pier

The Navy Pier was not originally called the Navy Pier; instead, it was just called the Pier. It was utilized as a prison for draft evaders in the mid-1910s. After that, in 1927, the pier was renamed the Navy Pier to honor World War I veterans. When World War II broke out, the Navy Pier was temporarily converted into a training center for the US Navy. The Navy Pier was repurposed by the City of Chicago in 1989. The Navy Pier underwent renovations. It has now evolved into a tourist and visitor attraction and entertainment center.
